It came today Ray, Oh my God it is beautiful! It will be water sealed, treated with kitt gloves and placed in our front yard for everyone to enjoy. Ray, it is simply stunning. I enjoyed visiting with you also. Carol Kavaney
You are so welcome! I am happy you liked it. Ray
From time to time I will be posting e-mails I have got from my customers. That is why you might see my name from a post. Ray
Ray made us a beautiful, very customized owl box with white, plastic windows and a camera box addition. His pays meticulous attention to detail, and all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend.
I'm looking for an owl box - yours are amazing! One question for you, do you do installations? I live in Del Mar.
Thanks for you time.
Good Morning Ray,I bought the huge bird feeder from you at the Vista FM on saturdaytwo weeks ago.The screen in the bottom is cut in two sections, which I failed to noticeupon purchase. The seed gets trapped between the overlapping screen, would you please cut a new piece 1 solid piece... 13 X 25 for the bottom?I can't find this "fine" screeen anywhere to fix this problem.I can staple the new screen on it if you'll bring to this Saturdays market,I will come and get it from you.The bird house I bought from you has birds nesting in it ALREADY!! whoohoo! Please advise...Cheryl Holt
Products look great. My interest is in your "picnic pagoda" style fly thru feeder. Few questions:
a. I'm in Minnesota and I'm thinking one made of cedar might hold up better in our harsh weather. Could you make one like this in Cedar?
b. Over the years I've gotten to like the idea of having a removeable tray with screen on the bottom that lets snow & moisture drain out. Is this an option you could build in?
c. If this is something you'd consider, let me know cost and approx shipping so I have an idea of what total cost would be.
Thank you. Name Jim Dobosenski
Yes Jim I can build you a custom screened in bottom for your feeder. Ray
Comment I would like to purchase 2 gravity feeders and can pick them up (I live in Leucadia). 619-855-6583 Name Lucy Malone
Hi! I live in Santee, next to the new 52 Freeway embankment. That means over the last two years ... more gophers ruining the yard, and for the first time ever, ground squirrles too. The neighbor in back has had rats infest his garage.
Today, a landscaper suggested I get an owl box and put it on my roof. I'd never heard of an owl box (thought he'd said "L-box"!
I like the style and affordability of the Church-style owl box.
Does it hurt to paint the exterior of the boxes?
Is it best to put it on the roof? Or on a pole? Otherwise, I have a fruitless fig tree in the front yard.
I imagine Barn Owls would live in the Santee area of San Diego County?
Lastly, do Barn Owls make much noise, especially at night?
Thank you!!!! (PS do you install too?)

Comment I would like to order one picnic pagoda, please.
At Vista Farmer's Market today you quoted me $65 for this piece (not $70 as stated above photo). Is $65 still correct?
And how is it mounted - on 4x4 post or from tree limb? Would a PVC pipe work instead of a 4x4 post? PVC would be more difficult for squirrels to climb. Can I pick it up at Vista Farmer's Market? I am not in a hurry. You could email or phone me when it is ready to be picked up.
We are looking to have an owl box for our gopher-infested property. We live in Lake Elsinore, and I am in the San Diego area frequently. If you could kindly send me a contact # where I could call to set up a time to look at your houses I would appreciate it.
“edification” another new word for me! Ha! Ha! OK...now I’m enlightened.
So I saw it on Craigs list. I have been wanting owl boxes as we have gophers and an abundance of rabbits.
I’m in Lakeside. I’m active in the Lakeside Riverpark Conservancy, also I serve on the Lindo Lake Sub-Committee and I am
technically a County parks volunteers. So we all talk about the problems with rodents! So the Supervising Park Ranger at Lindo Lake
and I have talked about Owl boxes for the park too, andthey want some for the Riverpark........but generally the Boy Scouts or someone
in community will take the time to volunteer to make them. Now for me...I’d rather purchase one and figure out how to put it up
in one of the trees or on a tall pole I have in the back.
No matter what, you cover most areas of critters so I will be more than happy to share your website with my nature loving friends.
So thank Craigs list for my going to your link and making it a favorite so I can remember where I saw it and share it with friends.
Also it’s a good website, if you did it your self. I like the way you breakdown how each box is used, why the critter will like it and how
to clean it out and why a specialized bird might like and need a different design.

I live in Illinois and was looking for a unique, hand made, birthday present for my husband. I found Ray and It's For The Birds on the internet. After speaking with Ray about our environment here I purchased the Roosting House and Outhouse. Ray's craftmanship is outstanding. The presents will be finished with a little paint and water seal and treasured for years to come. We are so very pleased. Ray, keep up the great work, we will be recommending you!
I am so happy you like your products! It was a great pleasure doing business with you.Tell you husband Happy Birthday for me.
After comparing adds on Craig's list San Diego I went with Ray's Owl boxes for a few reasons Out standing! is one,Wneh you pick up one of his boxes you can tell the quality immediately. They are build very tough or rugged. I ordered 2 with a perch.. I just purchased 2 Hotelowlifornia's from Ray. craftsmanship is top notch. His 2 pages of information on the owls are awesome and give you great ideas for box placements .and how to keep bees from nesting in the box. I really like the deck screws he uses, no rust policy ! As I was comparing owl boxes with other builders in the San Diego area he doesn't bad mouth other builders like Gerald, He even tells you to shop around and check out other builders.
Ray is very friendly and a personable guy. He is very helpful and took a genuine interest in me needs. He even gave me a discount for being retired military. I did take a look at some of the other items he builds but was extremely impressed with a huge Bird feeder he makes called the Swiss Chalet. You have to see this to believe it what details. Would I recommend him? Absolutely!
